Capturing the bio-electrical signals from plants through the Plantwave device (www.plantwave.com). I was able to use this as a source of information that was then, translated into musical notes which gave me the opportunity to create and shape new sounds based on my sound design.

The Manyara recordings originated as a set of ‘plant compositional strategies’, with the flora provoking and playing with various music devices and software. The recordings are then constructed into fully realized pieces, imbued with the shifting forms and sonic manipulations inspired by the effects of the plant's environment. Touch, temperature, time, and reactions to internal changes by the way of watering the plant and changing its soil type, match the personal emotions from my personal journal when my stepmother, who is a Botanist passed away from bone cancer.
